You now can access National Geographic Virtual Library and National Geographic Kids through your Alameda County Library System.

National Geographic Virtual Library covers the iconic National Geographic Magazine from 1888 to the present and National Geographic Traveler currently from January-February 2010 to May 2014. You can search by topic, and limit by month and year range. Once you click on the cover of an issue you wish to view, you can click on a search arrow to move forward or backward through the magazine or type in the number of the desired page and press the “GO” button.

Dropdown menu options for National Geographic Virtual Library include the topics of Animals, Environment, History, People and Cultures, Science and Technology, and Travel. The Image Search feature allows you to search for an image description and limit your results to a specific image type.

National Geographic Kids database currently covers this magazine from February 2009 to April 2014. Young readers can use the Explore Topics dropdown menu to search on Animals, Environment, History, Peoples & Cultures, Places and Science & Tech. There are 24 Kids Guides topics and 25 General Audience Guides.
