If you do not currently have healthcare insurance, you’ll want to inform yourself about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (commonly known as the Affordable Care Act or ACA) at your Alameda County Library website. Information on healthcare coverage under the ACA is available here.

Under the Affordable Care Act, millions of Californians will be able to choose affordable, high-quality health insurance coverage offered through Covered California healthcare marketplace. Coverage under a Covered California healthcare provider will take effect January 2014. Covered California is a new, easy-to-use marketplace where you and your family may get financial assistance to make coverage more affordable and where you will be able to compare and choose health coverage that best fits your needs and budget. By law, your coverage can’t be dropped or denied even if you have a pre-existing medical condition or get sick.

Links on the ACA and Covered California will be updated regularly. Registration for healthcare coverage begins on October 1, 2013 and ends on March 31, 2014.
