Our friends at the Livermore-Amador Valley Zone 7 Water Agency put together this amazing display in the lobby of the Dublin Library.  There are 144 one gallons used everyday by each person in Zone 7 water Agency’s service area*  Here’s a break down of the daily usage:

  • Miscellaneous – 3 gallons
  • Leaks – 10 gallons
  • Faucets – 13 gallons
  • Toilets – 14 gallons
  • Clothes washers/dishwashers – 16 gallons
  • Shower/bath – 17 gallons
  • Outdoors (landscaping, pools, etc.) – 71 gallons

The display also gives tips on how to cut water waste, where to get rebates for high-efficiency toilets and clothes washers, and gives information on converting lawns to water-efficient landscapes.  Much more information can be found at the following websites:

Here’s the following water conservation information available online through the Alameda County Library:

*Notes: This number is based on average year-round water use in a single-family house (391 gallons a day) divided by an average 2.7 people per household.  It is only an average, and your particular use may be higher or lower.  It does not reflect what a resident uses while at work or school.  It addresses typical daily usage throughout Zone 7’s service area, which can vary from community to community.  Water-use breakdown is based on various studies done in the state of California.
