April is National Poetry Month.

Dublin Library’s multi-tiered “wedding cake” display has a sampling of poetry books for you to enjoy.  (Be sure to check out our paper quilts displayed on the column just to the right of the poetry book display.)

Not only can you check out traditional books of poetry, poetry recorded on cd books, and electronic books of poetry, but you can also celebrate National Poetry Month  by carrying a poem in your pocket.

Do you need a poem?  Go to the Teen Area and choose a poem from one of our colorful pockets designed by teen volunteers and  posted by our Teen Services Librarian Donna Leach on our Teen Area bulletin board.

The procedure is simple:

  • Pick One!
  • Read it!
  • Share it with co-workers, family and friends!  Be a “Poetry Ambassador”.
  • Text it to a friend.  You can even share your poem selection on Twitter by using the hashtag #pocketpoem.
  • Post a poem on your blog or Facebook page.
  • Add a poem to your email footer.

Let your Dublin Library help you celebrate poetry throughout the month of April.
