Many library members are currently searching for new or better jobs. Some are not fully aware of what is available at Dublin Library to help them.

Firstly, job searchers should look at the Job Posting Binder, which is kept in the Test and Careers section of the library, right next to the periodicals stacks. This binder is updated weekly and lists openings with Alameda County, the San Ramon Unified School District, public sector jobs, and non-Alameda County library jobs. A copy of the periodical Jobs Available, which lists public sector jobs throughout the USA, is also stored within the binder. The very front of the binder has a list of online resources for job seekers, courtesy of Infopeople Project’s workshop entitled “Helping Your Patrons Thrive During challenging Times”.

Secondly, there is a wealthy of information online on the library website at . Alameda County Library reference staff has pulled together a few good books, databases and online resources for use in your job quest. Here is a link to that portion of the Alameda County Library website:

Lastly, Dublin Library hosts programs aimed at job seekers on a regular basis. Our current series of programs is presented by Jerry Simerman, Jobs Specialist with the One-Stop Career Center in Pleasanton, California. His programs in March will be Job Search A to Z (March 2nd, 1:30 to 3 p.m.), Resume & Cover Letter Writing (March 9th, 1:30 to 3 p.m.), and One-on-One Resume Critique (March 16th from 1 to 3 p.m.). The Resume Critique service is an individual 20-minute session where you and Jerry discuss your resume and how to make it more appealing to prospective employers. You need to schedule an appointment for a session with the Dublin Library Reference Desk Staff at (925) 803-7275.

Be sure to take full advantage of these online databases, books and programs available to you through your local Alameda County Library branch. Always feel free to come by the adult reference desk and ask for help in using these services if you need it.
